The Sedalia City Council approved an ordinance to set the date for a bond election during its meeting on Monday, November 6.

City Administrator Kelvin Shaw said the the city’s North Sewer Plant uses outdated technology, so the plant needs to be replaced.

The state of Missouri is requiring the city to replace the plant. Shaw said the state does a have a fund with a low interest rate to borrow from in order to complete this project, however, the city needs voter approval beforehand.

The bond election will be held on February 6, 2024.

The council also approved an ordinance to set the General Election for April 2, 2024. One council seat from each ward will be on the ballot.
