Jim was born August 27, 1942, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Darwin Nelson Bartlett and Marjorie Ann Rumsey Bartlett. He was the oldest of 10 children, five boys and five girls. On October 12, 1958, on a Sunday evening, he received the gift of salvation at the Assembly of  God Church in Longwood, MO. Jim was filled with the Holy Ghost on February 8, 1959, on a Sunday night. He was baptized in water on August 9, 1959, on a Sunday afternoon by Rev. Paul Parker in Heath Creek near Longwood.

On August 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Linda Pauline Parker, his childhood sweetheart, and they would celebrate 62 years of love and ministry together. Jim was president and founder of Sounds of Calvary Ministries Inc., a nondenominational organization which was founded in 1987. The life and ministry of Jim took him, his family and faithful members to 27 states and one country spreading the word of God. He was forever the pastor having begun his work as an Assembly of God minister from the time of his salvation until God called him to start the Sounds of Calvary Ministries Inc. He was also the mayor of Nelson, MO for a single term of office. He was a man of many, many talents, and his life was lived in complete surrender to the Will of God and the Work of the ministry. His testimony, his legacy and his heritage will live on forever in the work he began which will continue on until the church is raptured from this present state.

Jim was the father of two children, Kelly Lynn White (James Joseph White) and Jamie Irene Jones (Richard L. Jones I); the grandfather of eight grandchildren; the great-grandfather of 18 great-grandchildren; the step-great-great-grandfather of two; a great-great-grandchild due to join the family in the spring of 2024; one brother; four sisters; several nieces and nephews; and a wonderful, faithful church congregation.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

His one wish is that everyone come to know Jesus and meet him in Heaven.
