The Cooper County Masonic Lodge 36 of Boonville, honored veteran members last night with a special recognition including the presentation of retired masonic flags that had been previously flown over the Masonic Complex. Master Mason Kenneth Carey opened the meeting with Chaplain Marty Stover introducing Grand Senior Deacon Judge Keith Bail to give tribute to some of the veterans present that evening.

Mason Gary Bridgewater honoree spent 27 years in the Army with 19 moves raising two daughters from 1961-1991. Bridgewater’s assignments included Pentagon Army tests. Mason Lonnie Tucker spent 12 1/2 years as an Aviation Electronics Tech in the Navy. His service included being in active war zones with missions of flying, launching, and releasing. Tucker exclaimed his biggest assets were learning patience as biggest adventures were the commendatory he gained with people. Mason Ken Marlett also served in the Army for 12 years starting in 1980. Marlett stated he served as a red-eye gunner air defense artille soldier. Marlett stayed in the reserves and was full time again in active duty in 2000 during the Iraq war. Mason Sam Thompson was also in the service with the Army for around 2 years. Dan Comegy’s served 7 1/2 years in the Army as an Airborne Infantry soldier. Comegy was a Commander in rank before retiring.

The ceremony ended and the local members stayed stuffing envelopes for their upcoming fundraiser for their lodge. The Cooper Lodge plans on having a Chili Supper Fundraiser, December 9th from 11a.m.-2p.m at their location at 717 main street in Boonville, The lodge wanted folks to know that they are selling tickets,walk-ins and carry-out will be available that day as well. The lodge fundraisers support the Bikes-4-Books Program for area local schools, Masonic Homes, and Widow’s Gift Baskets during the holidays and more.
