The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen approved a change in the water and sewer rates during its meeting on Monday, November 13.
The board discussed amending the rates during its meeting in October. Ordinances were drafted and ready for the board to vote on during the November meeting.
The board approved a $.50 increase in the sewer rates, so the new base rate will be $10.30 for the first 133 cubic feet of water.
The new base water rate was set at $13.80. Both rate changes were passed and will go into effect.
The city had reportedly not raised rates for water or sewer since 2019.
