Richard E. “Gene” Bryson, 68 of rural Gilliam, died Thursday, November 16, 2023 near Gilliam.

Graveside services will be Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Slater City Cemetery, with Pastor Larry Moore officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1 until 3 P.M. at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.  Memorials are suggested to The Only Way Fishing Club in care of the funeral home.

Born October 19, 1955 in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Richard M. and Mary Morton Bryson.

He is survived by a son, Richie Bryson of rural Gilliam; a daughter, Alicia Bryson of Boonville; two grandchildren, Aunaka Hawkins and Jonah Hawkins; four brothers, Roger D. Bryson and his wife Toni of Marshall, James M. Bryson and his wife Donna of Slater, Steven W. Bryson of Slater, and Charles M. Bryson of Slater; and a sister, Marilyn F. Boston of Gilliam.  He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Russell Bryson.

Mr. Bryson was a member of The Only Way Fishing Club, and was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs and MIZZOU sports.  He retired from the patch crew at Coreslab in Marshall after many years of service.
