The Saline County Career Center DECA chapter received a donation from the Malta Bend Memorial American Legion Post 558 on Thursday, November 30.

The donation of $3,000 will help support and sustain the chapter funding this year.

Each year SCCC DECA works with local business, initiatives, and charities to develop marketing, publicity plans or help with general community giving or awareness activities. This year some of the local organizations our DECA chapter is working to promote include the Marshall Food Pantry along with support and participation in a food drive initiated by SCCC FBLA that helped raise over 1,700 items to be placed in the small food pantries throughout Marshall.

Another community-giving project is collecting items for the animal shelter and several boxes are within several businesses around the square. Additional projects that members are working on are a business solutions plan to help teach young voters how to register to vote and where to go when voting, a community awareness project to raise awareness for human trafficking, several integrated marketing plans, and more.
