Wallace James Bredehoeft, 95, of Sweet Springs, MO, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Kansas City Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Emma with Pastor Jacob Mueller officiating.  Burial with military rites will follow in  Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran Broadcast, or Kansas City Hospice House in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.  An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born July 13, 1928, in Emma, MO, he was the son of the late Arnold Bredehoeft and Freida Alpers Bredehoeft.  Wallace attended Holy Cross Lutheran School and was drafted into the United States Army, serving in Korea.  On June 26, 1954, he married Charlene Hemme and they were married for over 68 years when she preceded him in death on July 25, 2022.  Wallace lived in the Emma and Sweet Springs areas his entire life and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where he served on nearly every board and held most every office.  Wallace worked at International Shoe Factory for 24 years until it closed and then went into the construction business until he retired.  In addition to being a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Wallace was a member of Tieman-Blackburn American Legion Post 478 and a former member of the Concordia V.F.W. Post.

Survivors include two children, Stanley Bredehoeft of Sweet Springs and Vicki Meyer (Ron) of rural Sweet Springs; four grandchildren: Jim Meyer (Jennifer), Jon Meyer (Robin), Mark Meyer (Beth) and Mallory Petersen (Chris); 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Norfleet of Sedalia and Janice Howard of California; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Wallace was preceded in death by four brothers: Edgar Bredehoeft, Eldred Bredehoeft, Homer Bredehoeft and LaWayne “Joe” Bredehoeft; and three sisters: Elva Bredehoeft, Frances Evert and Wilma Driver.
