The Marshall Community Chorus is excited to share news of their upcoming holiday concert series On This Quiet Night.
The forty-voice choir, under the direction of Ron Sayer, will present their annual musical gift to the community in two performances: 7 p.m. Saturday, December 16, and 2 p.m. Sunday, December 17.
The concerts will feature traditional seasonal favorites as well as a few more contemporary selections. From the simple telling of the Christmas story in songs such as “Silent Night” and “On this Quiet Night”, to more vibrant, powerful selections like “Christmas Bells are Ringing” and “Rise Up Shepherd”, the choir promises simple moments of tenderness and explosive moments of magnificent sound that will fill your heart with delight.
Accompanied by string quartet and piano, which will add to the special mood of the concert, there is a treasury of inspiration to be found in each song. Like presents, each one is a pretty package waiting to be opened to reveal its wonders.
In addition to the community chorus, the concerts will also feature selections performed by the Marshall High School Choraliers under the direction of Michael O’Neill.
Featuring a local choir continues a tradition that was begun by Sayer during his first stint as director of the Marshall Community Chorus in the late ‘90’s.
Both performances will be held in the sanctuary of First Christian Church of Marshall, located just off the Marshall Square at 130 North Jefferson Avenue. As always, the concerts are free and open to the public.
