
Louis Oetting Jr., 84, of rural Concordia, MO, died Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Ernestville with Pastor Perry Copus officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Louis was born on June 18, 1939, in Concordia, and was the son of the late Louis Oetting and Lorna Alewel Oetting. He had lived in the Concordia and Ernestville areas his entire life and was a 1957 graduate of Concordia High School. Louis served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. On August 14, 1965, he married Martha A. “Marty” Simpson who survives of the home. In his younger years Louis worked in construction and then, after the death of his father, became a fulltime farmer until his retirement. In addition to being a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he had served on numerous boards and committees, Louis had also served on the Concordia Co-Op Board of Directors.
In addition to his wife, Marty; he is survived by two children, Gina Martens (Jeff) of Concordia and Derek Oetting (Jennifer) of Bryson City, NC; three grandchildren: Kerstin Martens, Adrien Martens and Carden Oetting; three brothers: Ron Oetting of Overland Park, KS, Bill Oetting of Olathe, KS and Harold Oetting of Concordia; one sister, Marilyn Holsten of Higginsville; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wendel Oetting.
