The Marshall City Council approved several ordinances during its meeting on Tuesday, December 19.
The council started by approving the second reading of an ordinance to execute a contract with the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation. This agreement allows the city to allocate $15,000 to the corporation for economic development opportunities for the City of Marshall.
In other news, the council passed the second reading of an ordinance to execute a contract with the Marshall Community Chorus.
Also, the council considered the first reading of a land exchange proposal with the Marshall Public School District.
The school district is interested in the land surrounding Spainhower Primary School and the future location of Marshall Intermediate School. This land totals about 175 acres, and the district has future plans for that land.
In return, the school district would tear down Eastwood Elementary and conveying that property and the railroad easement just north of it to the city. The first reading was passed.
