The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department has charged a 42-year- old woman in Lafayette County for Abuse or Neglect of a child.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s department reports that on December 5, they conducted a wellness check at the home of Sarah Nuttle, of Waverly.

The Deputies conducting the wellness check state that when they were granted access to enter the home, they noticed boxes, trash cans, and a strong odor from the inside.

The deputies stated that when they reached the room of the child, they opened the door to find piles of roaches and larvae in the door frame.

Deputies also report that there were 15 cats and one litter box through the entire home.

When the wellness check was completed, The Lafayette County Sheriff’s office placed Sarah Under a 24 hour hold for neglect of the child.

Nuttle has been charged with a Class D Felony for Abuse or Neglect of a Child.
