Johnson County Clerk Diane Thompson has provided an update on the county’s candidate filings for the April 2024 general Municipal Election.

The following candidates have filed for their respective offices with the Johnson County Clerk:

Western Missouri Medical Center Trustee (5-year-term):
-Greg Hassler

Johnson County Emergency Services Eastern and Wester Trustees (3-year-term):
-Eastern: Melissa Frey
-Western: Darlene Buckstead
-Western: Scott Ammon

Johnson County Ambulance District Sub-District Director (3-year-term):
-Sub-District 1 Director: Michael Wakeman
-Sub-District 4 Director: Juanita Moore

Southeast Sewer District Supervisor (5-year-term):
-Hal Hanrahan

City of Chilhowee Mayor (2-year-term):
-Lois Morrison

City of Chilhowee Alderman at Large (1-year unexpired term):
-Deborah Hufford

The last day of filing will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023. First day candidate filers select a number by random drawing to determine ballot placement on the ballot. After the first day to file, candidates will be placed on the ballot in the order of their filing.

The County Clerk’s Office will be closing at 2 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 and will be closed all day on Monday, December 25, 2023.
