
UPDATE: The Boil order has been lifted.
The City of Fayette is issuing an immediate boil advisory effective 11 p.m. Friday, December 22, until further notice.
The advisory is in effect due to unforeseen water main break crews will shut water off effectively until further notice. Since water pressure in this area of the city will drop below the standards required by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the city is issuing an immediate boil advisory effective on the date listed for the following affected residents:
-City of Fayette Utilities water customers
-City of New Franklin Utilities water customers
-CPWSD #1 water customers
Take these following precautions during the advisory:
-Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only water that has been boiled for drinking, diluting fruit juices, and all other food preparation and brushing teeth.
-Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic ice maker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.
-Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
-Continue boiling all water that is to be used for cooking and drinking until notified that the boil advisory has been lifted.
