Sedalia woman, 33 year old Ashley Kratzer, pleaded guilty Thursday to endangering the welfare of a child.

She was sentenced to five years of supervised probation.

Kratzer was originally charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree involuntary manslaughter and unlicensed daycare.

Kratzer pleaded guilty, but it was withdrawn.

According to a probable cause report, investigators suspected the child died of suffocation because the blanket was left in the playpen while he was sleeping.

Kratzer reportedly told authorities she put the child to sleep and noticed a problem when she checked on him a few hours later.

She said in court documents that the baby often took long naps, according to previous reports.
