
Update to the local shooting as reported on KMMO, on December 27.
On December 26, Saline County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting at a
local residence in Miami. At the time of the report, there were no injuries, and four subjects were
arrested.
As the investigation developed it resulted in charges filed against one individual.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Department states that there were multiple shots fired at the
residence of the calling party in Miami. The victim states that there was a male subject, as well
as other passengers; in a white Dodge pickup truck, firing shots directly at their home.
The MSHP and the Saline County Sheriff’s department were able to stop and detain a suspect
that matched the vehicle and physical description of the subject who was firing shots at the
Residence.
Police identified the suspect as 46-year-old Jimmy Wayne Penry of Brunswick.
Penry has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, and tampering with physical
evidence in felony prosecution.
Penry is in custody and no bond is set
Preliminary hearing for Penry is set for January 10, 2024 at 1:30 PM in the Saline County Courthouse.
