
A late-night 9-1-1 call on January 2, 2023, led to a swift response from the Marshall Police Department after an incident involving Michael Parks and an individual identified as the victim unfolded.
At 9:15 PM, Parks dialed emergency services, reporting a situation with the victim that escalated. The 9-1-1 call captured the sound of the victim screaming for help.
Upon arrival at the business in Marshall, officers found the victim in the parking lot, visibly injured with a bloody lower lip. According to the victim, Parks had struck her in the face with a closed fist while restraining her inside a room, preventing her from leaving. The incident occurred after Parks allegedly refused to vacate the room, where the victim’s two children were also present.
The victim, who had attempted to end her relationship with Parks two weeks prior, cited aggression and persistent harassment as reasons for seeking separation. In a bid to ensure her safety and that of her children, she had moved to the business while keeping her location undisclosed. The victim expressed her intention to file for an Order of Protection against Parks.
On January 2, 2024, Parks arrived at the victim’s room, refusing to leave. A physical altercation ensued, resulting in the victim sustaining a laceration to her lower lip. Parks allegedly held her in the room, restricting her from seeking help. Eventually, the victim managed to escape, reaching the front office and promptly calling 9-1-1. Parks also contacted emergency services shortly after.
Upon contact with Parks, officers observed blood on his right arm. He claimed it resulted from the victim, who he alleged had attempted to bite him. However, no bite marks were evident. Witnesses, including an employee identified as witness 1, corroborated the victim’s account. Witness 1 reported that Parks had attempted to bribe him for the victim’s whereabouts.
Parks was subsequently arrested, transported to the Marshall Police Department, and held for 24 hours.
Parks has been charged with A felony and domestic assault in the third-degree.
Parks’ bond has been set at $5,000 cash only.
