Responding to a Pilot Travel Center, Higginsville Police Department officers located a stolen white Toyota Yaris with California registration 8PFD804 at Casey General Stores.
Suspect, Daronte Shaw-Jackson, compliant but exhibiting unusual behavior, was apprehended at the SureStay hotel.
A loaded GLOCK 20, 10mm, was found in the vehicle, with Shaw-Jackson admitting to carjacking and using the weapon during the crime.
Following an escape attempt at Lafayette County Jail, Shaw-Jackson was recaptured in Lexington.
Shawn- Jackson has been charged with four felonies, including possession of a loaded weapon, carjacking at gunpoint, illegal narcotics possession, and assault on law enforcement officers.
