The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is hosting a public meeting and comment period for a project to replace the Missouri Route 5 bridge over Bear Creek in Glasgow.

Interested parties will have the opportunity to learn, ask questions, and provide input about the project during the open-house style meeting and open comment period.

The meeting will take place at the American Legion at 705 Washington Street in Glasgow on Tuesday, January 30. It will be an open-house meeting with no formal presentation. Those interested in the project may come and go as they like between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions, explain meeting exhibits, and provide project information.

The 93-year old bridge has stood the test of time with the only improvements being the replacement of the original bridge rails and improvements to the driving surface. The bridge’s deck and superstructure are showing signs of deterioration, but the design of the bridge does not allow for a bridge deck replacement, so the entire bridge will be rebuilt, upgraded, and widened. These changes will enhance safety, drivability, and traffic flow. Construction is expected to begin in the latter half of 2024 and be completed in 2025 with an estimated cost of $2.3 million (subject to change).
