The Saline County Commission met in regular session on January 17.

Key aspects of county governance were addressed.

Discussions included the Assessor’s report, bid openings, and the hiring of a new deputy in the Sheriff’s office.  Financial reports covered sales tax, budget updates, and the availability of 2024 flat-books for purchase.

In Commissioner  Stephanie Gooden’s report, legislative fixtures for Senate Bill 190 were discussed.

Commissioner Gooden informed the commission that she had attended a discussion on Senate Bill 190 at the state capital, reaffirming the county’s position to await legislative fixes for the bill’s implementation.

Senate Bill 190 aims to provide property tax relief for eligible Missouri residents receiving social security retirement benefits.

Along with the discussion of the bill, Commissioner Gooden also stated more information on the County Wide Cleanup, which is projected to take place on April 13.

The meeting concluded with a review of December collections and confirmation of a balanced budget, emphasizing the county’s commitment to responsible governance.
