Witnesses reported a hit-and-run, and police later identified the driver as 21-year-old Dakota Gallagher, who fled the scene, leading to a pursuit.
Gallagher resisted arrest, resulting in a physical altercation before being taken into custody.
Upon investigation, it was found that Gallagher lost control of his vehicle, causing significant damage to a house and a parked car.
Gallagher admitted to drinking and claimed mechanical failure as the cause.
Gallagher was held on a 24-hour hold at the Lafayette County Jail.
Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety. Gallagher faces charges of two felonies: leaving the scene of an accident and leaving property damaged that exceeds $1000. Additionally, he is charged with DWI and resisting arrest.
