Marshall Public Schools (MPS) celebrated an overall increase of 5% in their annual performance report (APR), reaching a score of 73%.
This improvement, compared to the previous year, places MPS in line with the state average. In contrast to the statewide trend of stagnant student achievement post-pandemic, MPS demonstrated significant gains, outperforming some nearby districts.
The district attributes its success to implemented strategies and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Director of Teaching and Learning, Laura Jacobi, highlighted these efforts at a board meeting, expressing satisfaction with the growth shown in the 2023 APR.
The Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Caleb Petet, commended the hard work of staff and students, emphasizing the importance of a data-driven approach. Looking ahead, MPS plans to extend the school day and add one professional development day per month to further enhance focus on student learning outcomes.
Overall, MPS sees its positive trajectory as a result of sustained efforts and aims to make academic success a lasting trend.
