Mae Sample, 87, of Slater, died Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital & Clinics.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10:00 A.M.

at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater, with Fr. Francis Doyle officiating.  Burial will be in the Miami Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 until 10:00 Monday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of Weiker Funeral Home.

Born May 5, 1936 in Miami, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Wayne Ramey and Edna Mae Taylor Ramey.  On October 8, 1953 in Miami, she married James E. Sample, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2013.

She is survived by three granddaughters, Marci Gari of Slater, Sheila Morgan of Micanopy, Florida, and Angie Sample of Moberly; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, William “Bill” Ramey and his wife Joyce of Miami.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jamie Tabor; and four sisters, Wanda Benedict, Juanita Tobin, Vivian Wiley, and an infant, Norma Ramey.

Mrs. Sample was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater, and had lived in Slater for many years, moving from Miami.
