Marshall Public Library is thrilled to announce the successful acquisition of a $7,194 grant for its upcoming Summer Library Program, titled “Adventure Begins at Marshall Public Library.” This substantial grant will play a pivotal role in enhancing the educational and recreational experiences for the community during the summer months. The program will run from June 3 to July 31, 2024.

In the most recent grant round, the Missouri State Library received an unprecedented 49 Summer Library Program grant applications, marking the highest number of grants received for a single grant round in recent history. The total amounts requested were $421,849.22, surpassing the available funds of $390,102.

As in years past, one of the primary objectives of Marshall Public Library’s Summer Library Program is to provide the community with essential educational stimulation during the summer months. This initiative is particularly geared towards children and teens, aiming to combat the “summer reading slide” often observed when K-12 students are out of school. By fostering community bonds and bridging educational gaps, Marshall Library’s Summer Program aims to create a supportive environment that nurtures a love for reading, nature, and exploration.

This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

The library’s commitment to collaboration and inclusivity ensures that the Summer Program becomes a beacon of community engagement, encouraging individuals of all ages to participate actively. Through a combination of innovative programming and a diverse range of activities, the Adventure Begins at Marshall Public Library initiative seeks to make a lasting impact on the community’s well-being and educational advancement.
