The Ray County Sheriff’s Office wants to inform the public about a scam involving individuals claiming to be affiliated with the department.

It has come to the attention of The Ray County Sheriffs Department that some individuals are receiving calls from someone purporting to be a Deputy White, Sgt. White, LT. White, or Cpl. White.

According to the Ray County Sheriffs Department they do not have anyone employed under these names.

The Ray County Sheriffs Department does not request money over the phone.

The Ray County Sheriffs Department does not ask individuals to undergo DNA swabs via phone calls. Unless you receive a direct call from the department asking you to physically visit the Department, any calls you receive requesting funds or personal information are fraudulent.

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a call claiming to be from the Ray County Sheriff’s Office, please call them directly at 816-290-5323 to speak with the clerks or at 816-776-2000 to speak with a deputy.

The Ray County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating this matter to ensure the safety and security of  community members.
