In the village of Arrow Rock, stands the J. Huston Tavern, a symbol of history and community. Constructed in 1834 by Joseph Huston, Sr., it was a hub for travelers seeking respite in the frontier.

Over time, it witnessed the passage of years and changes in ownership, remaining a steadfast landmark.

On May 1, 2024, tavern management shifts from the Friends of Arrow Rock to Missouri State Parks.

The Friends bid farewell after five years of stewardship, with Missouri State Parks poised to continue its preservation.

The tavern’s enduring legacy remains intact while dining reservations are temporarily halted for the 2024 season.

Despite this transition, the spirit of the J. Huston Tavern endures, welcoming visitors to experience its rich history. The Arrow Rock State Historic Site awaits those eager to explore its past and present offerings.
