The Marshall School Board convened in regular session on February 13th, during which they addressed various matters, including Senate Bill 681, also known as the “Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water” mandate, which applies to testing water within the state of Missouri, including the Marshall School District.

This mandate necessitates all schools within the district to conduct sampling, remediation, and ongoing monitoring of all water outlets used for drinking purposes, among others.

The testing is scheduled to occur during the summer. The board reviewed bids from different environmental testing companies, estimating the cost of this endeavor to be $30,000.

However, the district has also applied for a grant offered by the state to assist schools in meeting this mandate.
