Mary Beth Gilliam, 81, of St. Charles, Missouri, formerly of Slater, died Monday, February 19, 2024 at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.

Graveside services will be Monday, February 26, 2024 at 1 P.M. at St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery in St. Charles, with Dr. Joy Kaplan officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2024 from

5 until 7 P.M. at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral home.

Born January 24, 1943 in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow L. and Anne Helen Doty Shepard.  On September 22, 1961 in Fortuna, she married Jerry L. Gilliam, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2022.

She is survived by two brothers, William “Bill” Shepard and his wife Kathy of Slater, and Elvis Shepard and his wife Cindy of rural Gilliam; and a sister, Sandra Parkhurst of Sedalia.  She was preceded in death by three sons, Donald Gilliam, and twin sons in infancy, Steven and Stewart Gilliam.

Mrs. Gilliam was a 1961 graduate of Slater High School.  She had worked in the banking industry most of her life, and had lived in the St.

Charles area for the past forty years.
