The Carrollton Town Council will hold a special meeting to appoint a new Mayor and councilperson on Friday, February 23.

Mayor John Sweeney resigned during the council meeting on Tuesday, February 21. No reason was given.

Councilperson Susie Bliss will fill the vacancy created by Sweeney’s resignation. The council will then appoint a new councilperson to fill Bliss’s position. The council will also appoint a new Mayor Pro Tem.

The meeting is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, February 23.
