AT&T experienced widespread network disruptions nationwide today, affecting both cellular service and internet connectivity, according to Downdetector. While Verizon and T-Mobile also reported outages, they appeared less extensive than AT&T’s.

Around 4 a.m. ET today, over 32,000 AT&T outages were reported, peaking at more than 50,000 by 7 a.m. ET. The number surged to over 71,000 just before 8 a.m. ET. Meanwhile, about 1,100 T-Mobile outages and 3,000 Verizon outages were reported.

The cause of the disruption remains unclear. AT&T acknowledged the issue this morning, stating, “Some of our customers are experiencing wireless service interruptions. We are working urgently to restore service and encourage the use of Wi-Fi calling.”

Verizon clarified that the outages didn’t directly affect their network but impacted customers trying to connect to another carrier experiencing problems.
