Saline County authorities arrested a man after a lengthy vehicle and on-foot chase on February 21.
According to a probable cause statement, an officer with the Saline County Sheriff’s Department observed a vehicle driven by Daniel Laverty with expired plates. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped away as the officer was attempting to make contact with the Laverty.
A lengthy vehicle chase ensued on K Highway and 125th Road near Sweet Springs city limits. Laverty’s vehicle was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour while attempting to flee law enforcement.
Laverty eventually left his vehicle and fled on foot while trying to enter I-70 from the grassy divide between the interstate and 125th Road.
After a two-hour search involving assistance from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, Pettis County Sheriff’s Department, Sweet Springs Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Laverty was located and taken into custody.
Laverty has been charged with felonies for resisting arrest-creating substantial risk and driving while revoked. Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
