The Sedalia City Council passed a resolution during its February 21 meeting, altering the allocation of the half-percent Road and Bridge county-wide sales taxes to the city.

This resolution comes amid a dispute between the City of Sedalia and the County Commissioners over compliance with building safety codes.

The Commissioners, asserting supremacy over the City, refused to adhere to City codes, prompting legal action from the City. In response, the Commissioners threatened to withhold road tax payments and cancel contracts with the City, including vital emergency services.
