Two individuals managed to escape unharmed from a residential fire that occurred overnight in the 900 block of NW 50 Highway in rural Johnson County early this morning.

Emergency personnel were alerted to the fire shortly after 1:30 AM, when a witness noticed flames outside the house.

By the time firefighters arrived, the structure was already heavily ablaze. Unfortunately, some family pets inside the home did not survive the fire.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Assisting at the scene were personnel from Johnson County Fire Protection District #2, Johnson County Volunteer Fire Auxiliary, Johnson County Ambulance District, and Johnson County MO Sheriff’s Office.
