In Boonville, two employees of the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office, Robyn Pfeiffer, 29, and Rachel Atherton, 34, are facing charges in connection with the death of an inmate at the Cooper County jail.

Jackson County prosecutors have filed charges of involuntary manslaughter against both Pfeiffer and Atherton. The inmate, Brooke Bailey, passed away in October. According to court records, the defendants allegedly neglected to promptly provide medical assistance to Bailey, who had informed jail personnel of her diabetes.
