On Thursday afternoon, an Independence Police Officer and a Civil Process Server were shot and killed while attempting an eviction. The incident unfolded outside a residence near N. Elsea Smith Road and East Bundschu Road in Independence.

The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Cody Allen, who served the Independence Police Department for two years, and 41-year-old Drexel Mack, who had been serving the court for 12 years.

While the identity of the shooter has not been released, they are currently in custody.
