The Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra extends an invitation to local residents to attend The Charles Ferguson Memorial Chamber Recital, scheduled for Saturday, March 16 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, located at 710 E. Yerby in Marshall.
Beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, the event will showcase solos and small ensemble performances by members and associates of the orchestra, marking its 61st Season. The repertoire will encompass various sections of the orchestra, including pieces for strings, woodwinds, and brass instruments.
This “chamber” style recital, first introduced by the late MPO Conductor Charles Ferguson in 1995, is being renamed in his honor following his unexpected passing in December 2023. Kevin Lines, the current MPO Director, emphasizes Ferguson’s significant contribution to the music scene in Marshall and beyond over four decades, underscoring the appropriateness of commemorating him permanently.
The recital on Saturday is family-friendly, free of charge, and open to the public, with a reception to follow immediately after the performance.
