The Marshall City Council convened in regular session on March 6, with Council Member Charles Guthrie delivering the Public Relations Committee report.

Guthrie shed light on the recent activities of both the Marshall Fire Department and the Police Department, disclosing that in the month of February alone, the Fire Department responded to a total of seven fires, 36 medical service calls, one natural gas leak, and nine service calls alongside public service duties.

He emphasized the critical importance of fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, cautioning that they can malfunction and pose serious risks if ignored. Guthrie urged residents to promptly evacuate if these alarms sound, as carbon monoxide leaks are undetectable by smell.

With a total of 61 incidents recorded during the month, averaging two per day, Guthrie’s report underscores the ongoing dedication and vigilance of both the Marshall Fire Department and the Police Department in ensuring public safety.
