The Johnson County Fire Protection District responded to an overnight residential fire north of Warrensburg at around 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10.

According to the fire protection district, a residential garage and two vehicles were destroyed during the fire. Three District stations responded to the fire in the 200 block of Northwest 31 Road.

The fire was contained to the attached garage of the residence and two vehicles, one inside of the garage and one outside of the structure. Firefighters were able to rescue one family pet from the structure but another family pet was found deceased in the structure.

The cause of the fire was undetermined, but an electrical malfunction could not be ruled out.
