A Sedalia man has been charged with a felony after exploiting an elderly woman.

A report was filed in May 2023 with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office by a family member who expressed concern about his elderly mother and it was learned she also suffers from Alzheimer’s. The family member reported large sums of money that had been taken from the mother’s bank accounts by another family member. An investigation was completed and it was determined large sums of money, personal property, and real estate had been fraudulently taken from the elderly individual by the suspect.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Brian Dale Vinson and he was charged with financial exploitation of the elderly with a bond amount of $1,000,000 on March 11, 2024. Vinson self-surrendered at the Pettis County Jail, where he is currently incarcerated.

A hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 25 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
