Mary Catherine Lewellen Kemper, 96, of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Graveside services will be held at 11:45 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Marshall Homeless Shelter and Services. Born March 23, 1927, in Slater, MO, she was the daughter of the late Charley Richard Lewelllen and Myrtis Brightwell Lewellen. She was a graduate of Slater High School and Missouri Valley College. On May 14, 1950, in Slater, MO, she married Harold R. Kemper who preceded her in death on September 21, 1983. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She worked for the United States Quartermaster in Kansas City and taught in rural schools in Saline County for many years. Mary loved living on the farm and took great pride in being able to operate tractors and combines till she was in her eighties. She loved spending time with family and will be sadly missed by all.

Survivors include one daughter, Pamela K. Plattner of rural Grand Pass, MO; three grandchildren, Tiffany P. Robinson of Owings Mills, MD, Adam Plattner (Angela) of Grand Pass and Aaron Plattner (Michelle) of Higginsville, MO; and six great-grandchildren, Kemper Robinson of Nashville, Bennett Robinson of USAFA, Ava Plattner and Jay Plattner of Grand Pass and Adley Plattner and Brynn Plattner of Higginsville.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one son, David Kemper; one sister, Valda Kilgore; one nephew, Larry Mullins; and son-in-law, Jay Plattner.
