The Marshall High School Debate Squad competed in the Central District Debate Tournament over the weekend at Missouri Valley College and had several students advance to the state tournament.

Michelle Lin placed first in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and will advance to the state tournament. Both Lin and Andrea Gooden have now qualified for the state tournament.

Also, Piper Brunson and Lauren Riley both placed fourth in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, while Liam Conner and Tyler Surface both placed fourth in Public Forum Debate.

Marshall High School placed second overall in the Team Debate Sweepstakes.

The Missouri State Speech and Debate Tournament will be held in April in Springfield.
