The Sedalia City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2025 budget during its meeting on Monday, March 18.

The council has been working on the budget for a few meetings now. A public meeting was held prior to the city council meeting to allow for citizens to comment on the budget. City Administrator Kelvin Shaw said the council felt comfortable adopting the budget after everyone’s input.

This year’s budget include funding for many projects, including several capital projects and street improvements. The strategic planning process began in October 2023, with the next budget to take effect on April 1, 2024.

In other news, the council approved an abatement order on consent with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for the North and Central wastewater treatment plants. The city is currently in the process of replacing the North Wastewater Treatment Plant because of its outdated technology. This is an agreement with Missouri DNR to help the city during this process.
