A Stover resident sustained severe injuries following an accident in Pettis County on Thursday along the westbound section of Route V, near Moriarty Road, as per a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident unfolded when a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, operated by Kelly Peaster, 37, of Cole Camp, veered across the center line, traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. Autumn Gilpin, 55, from Stover, attempted to maneuver her 2006 Chevrolet HHR to avoid the collision but was struck head-on, according to the report.
Both vehicles veered off onto the north side of the road, with Gilpin’s Chevrolet colliding with a fence before coming to a halt, the report indicates.
Gilpin sustained serious injuries and was transported to Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia via ambulance. Both individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts. The Chevrolet was deemed a loss, while the tractor-trailer sustained moderate damage.
