The Warrensburg Police Department is warning residents of potential scams that have been reported in Warrensburg over the last several weeks.

Police report that the one thing they all have in common, is the scammer requesting to be paid in gift cards. Most of the time they request Apple gift cards, but some have even requested ones from Ebay and Target.

It is important to note that legitimate companies will not accept a gift card as payment unless you are purchasing goods or services from the company listed on the gift card.

Scammer mostly target college-aged students, children, and the elderly to conduct their scams.
