An inmate at the Boonville Correctional Center faced charges of first-degree assault on Monday following accusations that he poured boiling water on another inmate back in January.

Russell McKelvey’s arraignment was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23. According to court records, McKelvey purportedly left his living area at 2:06 a.m. on January 26 and hurled scalding hot water at another inmate. Two additional inmates were also splashed with the water, resulting in minor injuries, as stated in the report.

According to court filings, McKelvey allegedly informed corrections officers that the victim had threatened him.
