The Higginsville Board of Aldermen approved a bill to authorize the issuance of sewerage system revenue bonds during its most recent meeting.

This bill authorizes the issuance of $16,650,000 principal amount of sewerage system revenue bonds from the State of Missouri’s Direct loan program for 2024.

Voters allowed the city to issue these revenue bonds during an election in August 2021. These bonds will be used to construct and equip a new wastewater treatment facility and pump stations. A pre-construction meeting was held at the Sewer Treatment Plant on April 2. Representatives from McClure Vision, Pioneer Trails, Martin General Contractors, the Department of Natural Resources, and the City of Higginsville were in attendance. The Notice to Proceed was issued at the meeting.
