Donald Jean “D.J.” Rolf, 92, of Alma, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Care Community in Concordia, MO.

 

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, with Pastor Bernard Ross officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Inurnment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Born February 17, 1932, in Kansas City, MO, he was the 11th of 12 children of the late Oswald Henry “O.H.” or “Walter” and Lydia Stegemiller Rolf. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954. On April 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Tieman who survives of the home. His death was just three days after their 68th wedding anniversary.

 

“D.J.” worked at the County Club Dairy in Kansas City and then became owner/operator of Don’s Skelly Service in Alma for many years, during which time he was also a school bus contractor and/or driver for the R-10 School District. He served in several capacities as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, as an Alma city alderman, was Chief of the Alma Fire Department and a member of the Tieman-Blackburn American Legion Post 478 and the V.F.W. His favorite recreation was playing cards with friends.

 

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two children, Craig (Tracey) Rolf of Grapevine, TX and Michele (Scott) Keepes of Linwood, KS; three step-grandchildren, Mathew (Ashley) Fisher, Megan (Ben) Azzi and Bradley (Lauren) Keepes; two step-great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Jayden Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert, Elmer, Oswald, Melvin and Milton; and six sisters, Esther Northen, Helen Dieckhoff, Iola Rolf (stillborn twin), Viola Meyer (twin), Oralie Bredehoeft and Lillian McClure.
