
The Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra is especially proud and honored to conclude its 61st Season Sunday, April 14, with Marshall native and United States Navy Band Musician Third Class clarinetist, Brandon Pace, currently stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois.
Pace grew up in Marshall and was a member of the MHS Band, Orchestra, and Choraliers. He was also a member of the Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra and the Marshall Municipal Band. Pace is a former member of the Missouri All-State Band, the Honor Band of America, and the National Association for Music Education National Honor Band in Washington, D.C.
He earned a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg) and a Master of Music degree at the University of North Texas (Denton), where he was a member of the internationally recognized North Texas Wind Symphony. After attending UNT, Pace further earned a Certificate from The Julliard School in New York City.
On Sunday, Pace will be performing the technically challenging, ultimate 1940s jazz showpiece, “Concerto for Clarinet” by Artie Shaw and the famous “Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakov.
Sunday’s concert will further “enlist” the talent of the highly acclaimed Marshall High School Orchestra and its director, Jordan Summers. The 50+ member orchestra has numerous accolades under Mr. Summers’ baton and is an invaluable link to the community orchestra’s continued success.
The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Harold L. Lickey Auditorium of Bueker Middle School and is generously underwritten by Community Bank of Marshall and Exchange Bank. The concert is free, open to the public, and is suitable for audiences for all ages.
