
A Sedalia man, Bear Hagston, has been charged with three felony charges following an incident where a woman was discovered shot in a front yard early on Tuesday.
The charges against him include first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.
The victim was airlifted to a hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the neck. According to a probable cause statement, Hagston allegedly shot the woman during a confrontation in the front yard. Although injured, the victim was partially conscious when authorities arrived at the location on North Prospect Avenue around 1 a.m.
A witness reported observing the altercation between Hagston and the victim prior to the shooting. Following the incident, Hagston fled the scene, and law enforcement discovered a partially loaded pistol magazine nearby.
