The Marshall Community Chorus will present its Spring Concert: Seasons of Life, at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the First Christian Church of Marshall. Admission is free for this concert that is suitable for all ages.

Under the direction of Ron Sayer, this concert will present a musical reflection of life’s seasons and transitions, its ups and downs, it’s advancements and setbacks.

“The 35th season of the chorus has truly been one of the most rewarding musical seasons since the choir began performing,” Sayer said. “The choir has grown so much and risen to the musical challenges they were presented with. They perform on a level equal to any collegiate choir. I am honored to have shared sixteen years with them as their director.”

Selections to be performed span the gamut from often sung choral arrangements such as; Long Time, Ago and The Rhythm of Life, to more contemporary choral literature such as Timothy Takach’s At Home and Elaine Hagenberg’s You Do Not Walk Alone. In between, expect to hear popular songs from the past such as What a Wonderful World and Both Sides Now, and hymns such as Amazing Grace.

The choir will be joined by instrumental guests Kim Schlomer on flute, Steve Litwiller on clarinet, Derek Wittmann on the organ, and John Findlay on bagpipes. The volunteer members of the chorus come from all walks of life and from across Saline, Lafayette, and Cooper counties.
