During yesterday’s session of the Saline County Commission, the commissioners moved to renew their emergency management agreements with the municipalities of Arrow Rock, Malta Bend, Sweet Springs, and Grand Pass. Originally established in the late 2000s, the motion to approve the renewal was unanimously passed.

In addition to this, the commission received a comprehensive report from Saline County Clerk Brittni Burton. Burton informed the public that this year’s voter turnout stood at 14%, noting a decrease from the previous year. She further elaborated that the municipal election results were certified by a bipartisan team through hand counting, ensuring accuracy and integrity.

Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner also provided a significant update regarding the Saline County jail project. She revealed that the project, which aims to modernize and renovate the 27-year-old building, is currently in its final quarter for funding out of the allocated $3.6 million grant. Plattner announced plans for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the project at a later date.
